Our ISP finally solved the problem around 10pm on Thursday.
Apparently the specific server our blogs and forums are hosted on did not receive a scheduled upgrade on Wednesday and as a result some things went definitely haywire for a while.
The blogs were up and down all day, and finally down for the count around 4pm [...]
An update on the blogs coming-and-going:
Apparently the growing traffic to the Blogs, Forums and childcare database put a bit of an unexpected strain on our database last night and this morning.
Basically - some people were seeing "max_connection" error messages when they tried to log in. Chalk that up to a learning curve on our part [...]
You might have noticed some problems with our blogs and forums for a about an hour this afternoon.
According to our Web host: " Due to security vulnerabilities announced bySecurityfocus.org and Kernel.org we were forced to update ourkernels/apache/php today. That should not have effected yourpermissions you have set on your blog though."
