Facebook doesn't like us

Damon | 15 August, 2007 21:07 | (603)

Well, the Telegraph had a Facebook profile for about a week, and gained 100 friends, till we were cut off.

Here is the note I got from their support team today:

-----------

Hi,

Facebook profiles are intended for use by a single individual.  Groups, clubs, and other types of organizations are not permitted to maintain an account.  I apologize for the inconvenience, but you will no longer be able to use this account.

If you would like to use Facebook to bring your organization together and coordinate activities, we offer a Groups feature.  Facebook Groups allow people to come together to express objectives, discuss issues, post photos, etc.  If you have a personal Facebook profile, you can create one of these groups from that account.  The option to 'Create Group' is available at the top of the Groups page.

Thanks for your understanding,

Do you plan to do a group now?

Jack - I tried another appeal by email and when that is rejected - we will probably do a group. Unfortunately that does not provide the same visibility or functionality etc.

FYI - FB sent another note last night that they are considering the issue. Not sure if that is positive or not, but it is something.
