Sometimes, there is no telling

Despite our best attempts to figure out what our audience wants to read each day, we are sometimes the last to know.

In last Sunday's Telegraph, we had, among other stories, a front page piece on an increase in drug overdose deaths in the state, and a centerpiece on The Birth Cottage in Milford, featuring coverage of an actual birth.

Both were well read online, but it was a small article with photo on page F-8 that is the most well read story of the week on our Web site:

Melissa Jellerson / Tinker Toy

Most of the traffic to this story (6,000 page views as of 11 am) came to us early Wednesday from CollegeHumor.com. The content of the site is self-explanatory, so caveat emptor if you visit there.

The creators of the site, obviously tongue-in-cheek, linked to us with the heading: "Worst Name Ever" thereby driving legions of their readers to read 40 words about a perfectly nice couple from Hollis, NH, who probably never guessed their engagement notice would create a definitely Internet 15 minutes of fame.

Share and enjoy.
