Generalisimo Francisco Franco is still dead

Damon | 22 May, 2006 12:18 | (1493)

Much like the breaking news from Chevy Chase on Saturday Night Live in 1975, the Telegraph Web site found itself repeating itself Saturday morning.

Due to a problem with our hosting provider, Saxotech, Friday's top stories continued to appear for much of the day on Saturday, despite our best efforts.

Here is the note we received from them as explanation:
Replication is currently not functioning as normal, meaning new article and image data is not being copied as quickly as normal to the read only databases and therefore is not available on some web sites. SAXOTECH is aware of the issue and is working to resolve it and speed up replication.

Bottom line - their servers were not publishing our 'new' stories and kept defaulting to day old news. The site was back up to speed by Saturday evening, and we have not seen any reoccurances of the problem so far.

Our apologies to anyone who was inconvenienced by this technical difficulty, and thanks to those who emailed to let us know.

Share and enjoy.
