Moment of what?

FOX’s Web site quotes “The Moment of Truth” as “the most intense show in the world!” I wouldn’t go as far to say that (there’s a lot of great trash TV shows out there), but I think this show’s ridiculous nature could easily addictive.
“The Moment of Truth”, similar to the crop of other trashy/reality shows is a program that you can watch consistently or drop and you probably wouldn’t even know it.
Each week a new contestant (or two) gets strapped to the ultimate lie detector in front of friends, a significant other, family and oh yeah, “all of America.” We’ve all played the game 20 questions, but probably none of us have ever gotten this perverse or personal. I suppose that’s where the trashy wonderfulness comes into play.
Part of the humorous part of “The Moment of Truth” is the ridiculous characters they pick for the episodes. The first viewing introduced America to an ex-football player and personal trainer who I wanted to punch by the end of his time in the hot seat. (Or maybe it was him and his wife I wanted to knock out.)
This egotistical moron answered some pretty personal questions, and he answered them honestly, which was slightly disappointing, sickening and oh so entertaining. But I think the most hysterical part of his segment was his beautiful, blonde wife. This knockout beauty didn’t seem to care that Mr. Football thought he was a hunk, has groped some of his clients and doesn’t think they’ll be married long enough for children. She clapped and giggled through the whole thing because there was money involved.
Umm…priorities, blonde bombshell?
When hubby lied about the groping incident her applause stopped and she turned cold; I think it was because he didn’t win $500,000.
I guess that’s the type of show this is going to be though. Ridiculous characters (the hyper, gambling addict is currently on the hot seat) who care more about money than loved ones, family and their dignity.
We all have dirty, little secrets, but how much are they worth to you?
I’d never be able to go on one of these shows. I got nervous enough watching the show with my boyfriend and started to feel guilty for things I haven’t even done, said or thought about.
Oih, hope I’ve never riffle too much through a coworker’s desk and I swear I’ll never call out sick with a false excuse. (And if I do, I hope I’m not hooked up to wires with a TV crew trying to decipher my every breath and movement.)
All of that being said, I absolutely can’t wait to turn in next Wednesday night when Mr. Hair Club for Men tells his son that he gambled away his college tuition.
