In my house, my sisters and I always left him some nice wine and cheese. My parents urged us to give him a break from all the sugar. One year, we went a little crazy, leaving additional cheese for Santa Mouse, milk for Santa Cat, biscuits for Santa Dog, carrots for the reindeer and so on. I think we emptied our larder for the entire Santa family. I don’t recall if it translated to extra goodies below the tree or in our stocking, but by mornig, all that was left were empty bowls and crumbs.
