What?! Why?!

I almost choked. They're remaking Footloose?
Nothing shows up on IMDB just yet, but TMZ is pretty accurate with their reports. And if you Google "zac efron footloose," it's everywhere.
Remaking Hairspray? Fine. It's a film version of the Broadway musical version of the original movie and it's being produced by John Waters, who directed it to begin with, so I can't complain too much.
Bringing Transformers to the big screen? Fine. It was a cartoon to begin with and this is a live action version (as much as it can be when half the characters are giant robots from outer space), so again, I can't complain too much.
But Footloose? There's no good reason to remake Footloose! In fact, there are only three possible reasons for a remake:
1) Nostalgia. In which case, rent the movie.
2) Capitalizing on the popularity of Zac Efron, who played Troy in Disney's High School Musical. In which case, you're being greedy and, frankly, ridiculous.
3) Someone is looking for more ways to play Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon. Well, that's actually not too bad as far as reasons go.
But hear this, Hollywood. I swear to you on David Bowie's awesomely froofy Goblin King wardrobe - if you even think about remaking Labyrinth, I'm coming after you with a pitchfork.
I'm going to curl up under my desk and cry now. I don't even think a cookie can heal this hurt.
