This week, a new voice took over Weekend Word on the Encore site. Our intrepid reporting intern, Steve Bodnar, filled in as his swan song here.

Bands featured are Dance Gavin Dance, Doro Pesch, Storyhill and The Gray Davies.

All have gigs in New Hampshire this month and next, although this is the first time the bands are all from out of state. No matter because the point of Weekend Word is to give bands like this (and the venues they are booked in) exposure, which translates to good things for the music community in general.

Give it a listen. I think Steve did a great job, and the mix of music this week is pretty funky, going from the screamo of Dance Gavin Dance to the cool acoustic of Storyhill. It really does a great job representing what a wide range of musical tastes can be sated in the Granite State - by either visiting musicians or home-grown ones.
