For anyone concerned about issues of animal cruelty, a stunt cat (basically, a very wet stuffed kitty) handled the more dangerous scenes, like the initial plunge into the bathtub.

These people are extremely brave. I would never even dream of attempting to bathe my cat. For one thing, she would probably find out and vengefully eat my toes in the night. The vet refuses to trim her claws or brush her teeth without having her sedated first, so I can just imagine the casualties that would arise from bathtime. Who's mommy's darling little violent baby then? The murderous gleam in her eye would just be so precious.
