The only thing better than a great song? A fantastic remix

A great remixer knows how to pick out the little nuances listeners loved about the original song and either bring them to the forefront or showcase them in a new light. It’s an opportunity to fall in love all over again.
During a recent YouTube quest for remixes of popular ’80s songs, I stumbled upon a user by the name of DjProducerMattPop, a producer from the Netherlands who creates some gloriously danceable remixes.
My absolute favorite so far is his remix of Baltimora’s one and only hit, "Tarzan Boy." The original has been one of my favorite songs for at least a decade now. I mean, it has a great guitar riff, awesome hooks, and a sung Tarzan yell for the chorus. How can you not love "Tarzan Boy?"
Anyway, here’s the original for the sake of comparison:
And here’s the Matt Pop remix:
He also does mashups where he combines two different songs by two different artists. I really liked this one with Yazoo’s "Bad Connection" and OMD’s "Maid of Orleans":
Fun, huh? It’s like a whole new song.
Hmm. I wonder if anyone in the newsroom will mind if I have a bit of a dance break. I’m not sure how far my headphone cord will stretch, though - my dancing options may be rather limited.
