There are 9 guys hoping David Archuleta gets hit by a bus tonight.

In all my seasons of watching Idol, I’ve never seen a clear-cut favorite this early. He really seems to have this whole thing wrapped up. The audience is packed with fans. The judges love him. Really, if you are any of the remaining 19, what are you thinking tonight? The girls haven’t even sung yet this week.

I was impressed by the "combacks" of David Hernandez, Chikezie and David Cook tonight (I am just realizing this must be the season of Davids). All 3 were much better than last week.

Michael Johns, Jason Castro did well this week, but I must admit I’m a real sucker for a guy who sings Andy Gibb songs. They should go right through.

Jason Yeager, Danny Noriega, Luke Menard and Robbie Carrico look to be on the chopping block this week. No one in this group was impressive and I’m starting to see what Simon has been saying about Robbie not being authentic. I think David C. has taken the "Rocker" slot for the guys this season with his rendition of "All Right Now". The Carpenters and Doobie Bros. songs picked by Danny and Jason were poor picks, especially Jason’s, which did nothing to showcase his voice.

If I have to pick, I’d say Jason and Luke should pack their bags. And that is killing me because I have Luke in the office pool!

very astute evaluation. i totally agree. i do love that dredlocked sweetie, and the aussie is HOT. but yeah, archuleta betta getta home-school teacher lined up now, cuz that toddler's gonna take it.

I agree: David Archuletta seems to be on the fast track to stardom. The problem is the finish line is still out of reach. I fear he's peaking much too early. Where to go from here, if the judges and all of America have declared his performances "the best ever?" I doubt he can continue to top himself for the next, what, 14 weeks? Mind you, he's good and I hope he goes as far as his talent will carry him. I just think a reality check is probably not far away.
