I want more for my $9 movie ticket!

Really, there's just not enough movie options for me in the area.

Now that I've lived here for a few years, I've been spoiled by some of the more unusual film choices at the Wilton Town Hall Theatre. It's a trek to get out there, but the cheap, cheap prices (for both movie and snacks) and the curtain that opens before the previews make it a big-time winner in my book.

Then there's Chunky's. Now with a Nashua location, why shouldn't I be going there more often? It has the best, most comfy seats of any type of entertainment in the area. It has decent food. It has BEER. It, too, has cheaper movie prices.

And there's the Milford Drive-In Theater. It's $20 for a car-full of people, for not one, but TWO movies during the summer. And pairings there are getting better. About a month ago, I saw "Superbad" and "Knocked Up" on the same night, and last Friday I watched "Transformers" and the new "Halloween." I can sit in the comfort of my car with my friends. And you don't have to worry about other people bothering you with their noise. (Though I have to say, the guys in the car next to us last weekend made many sound effects that made the not-so-great "Halloween" a lot more bearable.)

Really, why should I go to some of the bigger chain theaters when all they offer is the same mainstream movie, at a more expensive price, with food that's so not worth it's price?

Well, one local chain theater just started something pretty fun. The Showcase Cinemas in Lowell started its Attack of the B Movies double feature on Thursday nights. It began last night, and it's scheduled to go through Oct. 25 right now. And the price: $5. Check out the schedule:
- "Giant from the Unknown" / "She Demons" (9/27)
- "They Came From Beyond Space" / "Killers from Space" (10/4)
- "Ring of Terror" / "Indestructible Man" (10/11)
- "The Killer Shrews" / "Dementia 13" (10/18)
- "The Little Shop of Horrors" / "Tormented" (10/25)

C'mon, area theaters. Make my movie experience worth it!
