Sunshine Week: Day 6Nick | 17 March, 2007 11:20 | (267)
On Friday, The Telegraph published a story headlined "Study: Government flaunts information law requirements / Think tank says about 75 percent of agencies breaking federal rules." Here's how the story by Robert Tanner of The Associated Press opened: Federal agencies have dragged their feet on implementing a 10-year-old law that requires them to use the Internet to make government documents easily available, a study says. The result is the public is blocked from easier access to information, the report says, and the cost of answering information requests is driven up. Here is a link to the full story. This was the 10th story -- including a column by the editor (Sunday) and an editorial (Monday) -- The Telegraph published this week in conjunction with Sunshine Week, a national initiative to bring attention to the importance of open government. searcharchives
