Welcome To The Editorial Board

Nick | 12 May, 2006 22:35 | (432)

I'm pleased to announce that Ernesto Burden, our new media manager, has accepted an appointment to The Telegraph's editorial board.

Ernesto will join myself, Publisher Terry Williams, Editorial Page Editor Claudette Durocher, Managing Editor/Online Damon Kiesow and Sunday Editor Marty Karlon on the board.

The editorial board, which usually meets Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. in the newsroom conference room, is responsible for developing the newspaper's editorial positions on local, state, national and international issues. During election seasons, it also determines which candidates to endorse.

Speaking of editorials, one of the common questions we are asked is why newspaper editorials are never signed. The reason is that the editorial represents the position of the newspaper -- not an individual -- so the author of a particular editorial doesn't really matter.

Besides, if readers have a problem with one of our editorials, they usually have no problem figuring out who to call.

Share and enjoy.
