With summer grilling season upon us, it’s good to see the meal deals at area supermarkets this week.

Market Basket has 80 percent lean ground beef for$1.99 a pound and seven-bone chuck steak or roast for $1.69 a pound. Stop & Shop has its White Gem drumsticks and thighs for 99 cents a pound in the 3-pound or larger value packs and semi-boneless rib steak also in value packs for $4.99 a pound. Hannaford has shoulder steak for London broil at $1.79 a pound and its all-natural rib and sirloin end pork chops in value packs for $1.29 a pound.

Shaw’s has bottom round steak or roast for $1.99 a pound and boneless chicken breast in 3-pound or larger value packs for $1.99 a pound in Milford and $2.59 a pound at many other markets. There are different prices also on Florida’s Natural orange juice – $1.99 a half-gallon in Milford and $2.47 at other markets – and on giant packs of Brawny paper towels and Quilted Northern bath tissue – $7.99 in Milford and $8.99 at other markets.

There are other bargains to look for this week, too. Stop & Shop has big savings on three 12-packs of Budweiser beers, bottles or cans, after $5 each ($15 total) in rebates. Various sizes and brands of cereals are three for $5.

Market Basket has boneless cod fillets for $3.99 a pound, cooked ham and presliced American cheese for $1.99 at the deli, and Kraft Mac & Cheese 12-packs for $6.99.

Area drug store chains’ ads are beckoning with some specials: Walgreens has various sizes of Kellogg’s or Kashi cereals for three for $10 plus there’s a $3 Register Reward that means it’s like paying $7 for the three boxes. And CVS has a couple of “spend $15, get $5 back in Extra Bucks” specials: one is on a big variety of candies in all sizes and the other is on various kinds and sizes of Energizer batteries. CVS also is selling Dawn dish liquid in 10.3-ounce bottles at two for $1 after $1 in Extra Bucks, and offering $2 back in Extra Bucks on select Head & Shoulders or Pantene shampoos and on Crest Glide Comfort Plus floss in the value pack.

Always look to use manufacturer’s coupons to save even more.
