Don’t be chicken to go for this offer

It’s a week to think of buying chicken and of spending money to save money.
Market Basket’s flier advertises its boneless and skinless chicken breast for $1.89 a pound, and Hannaford is selling split chicken breast in 4- to 6-pound packages for 99 cents a pound. If you have freezer space, consider buying several packages and socking them away. Use plastic freezer bags to break down the value packs into meal-size amounts.
This week, Shaw’s flier has a $10 off store coupon to clip and save with $25 worth of participating Kellogg’s products, including selected varieties of cereals in 9- to 20-ounce containers. Use manufacturer’s coupons, too. Also, by buying between $10 and $60 worth of Heinz products (in a single transaction), you can save from $3 to $24. You’ll get a reward coupon good for your next shopping order. The Heinz products include ketchup, Ore Ida frozen potatoes and Smart Ones and Boston Market dinners. Hot, Lean or Croissant Pockets are $1.66 each, and there’s also a flier coupon for a free, 5-pound bag of Russet potatoes and a 1-pound bag of carrots when you buy any corned beef or roast beef. It’s still not too late for that boiled dinner.
Stop & Shop has varieties of Kellogg’s and Post cereals priced at $2 a box, fresh asparagus at $1.99 a pound, Breyers ice cream at $1.99 for a 48-ounce container (limit three), Stouffer’s Entrees at $2 each and 3 pounds or more of top round London broil at $1.79.
Additional deals at Market Basket include center cut pork chops (bone in) for $1.69 a pound, 18.6-ounce cans of Campbell’s Select Soups for $1.25, 6-ounce containers of Dannon yogurt for 40 cents, half-gallons of Turkey Hill iced tea for 99 cents, and broccoli crowns at 99 cents a pound.
The drug store chains don’t seem to have a lot of great deals but there are a few worth stopping for.
CVS through Tuesday has Irish Spring body wash in 15- to 18-ounce containers free after $4.99 in ExtraBucks and Colgate MaxWhite toothbrush or 4.6- to 6-ounce MaxWhite toothpaste free after $2.99 in ExtraBucks. Also, if you spend $20 on Nexxus shampoo or conditioner in a variety of sizes, you’ll get $10 back in ExtraBucks. Buy two Pantene Pro-V shampoos and conditioners and you’ll earn $2 in ExtraBucks, and buying Right Guard or Dry Idea deodorants will cost you 99 cents after $2 in ExtraBucks (limit one).
Finally, Walgreens has 15-ounce cans Dinty Moore beef stew and 10.5- to 15-ounce cans of Hormel chili for $1.50 each (limit four), and 12-ounce cans of Spam, Celebrity ham or Hormel corned beef (limit two). Also, quantity purchases of Dove products can save you between $2 and $8, and buying two or more products including Tylenol Cold, Zyrtec allergy relief, Sudafed or Benadryl in various sizes can earn you $3 in Register Rewards.
Always look to use manufacturer’s coupons to save even more.
