Market deals making soup hard to pass up

Soup’s on . . . Progresso’s Traditional soups, the kind with chicken and meat, can be found on sale this week at a number of supermarkets. Prices on the 18.5- to 19-ounce cans vary by store, though. It’s priced at $1.25 a can at Market Basket, at $1.33 a can at Shaw’s, and on a “Buy two, get two free” special at Stop & Shop. Hannaford is also selling “select varieties” at $1.25, but those may be the vegetable kinds. There may be some unexpired manufacturer’s coupons that will help you save more, too.
If you’re looking for deals on meals out of a can, a couple of drugstores are selling Dinty Moore beef stew (and there were also manufacturer’s coupons that appeared in fliers in the paper in the past couple of weeks). Walgreens has the 15-ounce can for $1.50, while CVS has them for $2 each. Walgreens also has a sale price on Spam and Hormel corned beef 12-ounce cans for $1.99, limit two.
Market Basket has a number of other good specials. Savings of 50 cents a pound are available on center cut pork chops (bone-in), priced at $1.79 a pound, and boneless chuck pot roast, priced at $2.49 a pound. Store brand giant white bread in the 22-ounce loaf is 79 cents. Fresh asparagus is $1.79 a pound. Florida’s Natural orange juice half-gallons are selling for $2.50. Old Orchard and FruitSense drinks are priced at $1.50 and $2, respectively, and there were manufacturer’s coupons that appeared recently. The chain also has Angel Soft bath tissue in the 24-pack or 12-pack of double rolls for $4.99.
Yogurt is sale priced at 50 cents a container at Shaw’s (Yoplait varieties) and at Stop & Shop (Dannon varieties).
You haven’t heard about many deals on Coke or Pepsi for a couple of reasons: The “four 12-packs for $10” deals seem to be a thing of the past, and I’ve been trying to cut back on my purchases of soda. Chilled tap water is probably better for us, anyhow. Still, there’s a special on Coke, Tylenol and St. Joseph’s aspirin this week at CVS: You’ll get $10 in ExtraBucks back if you spend $20 (there’s a limit of eight 12-packs, though).
Other deals from the drugstores: CVS has some extra-special prices (50 cents to $1 extra off) on Scott paper towels, Charmin and Huggies through today/Monday. Gillette Fusion and other razors cost $4 after $4 back in ExtraBucks. Aussie or Herbal Essences hair products in a range of sizes are $1.99 after $1 back in ExtraBucks. Finally, Colgate Total 4-ounce tubes of toothpaste are free after $2.99 in ExtraBucks.
Walgreens is having a “buy one, get one free” special on many of its store brand products, and four boxes of Kellogg’s cereal cost $7 after $3 in Register Rewards.
Always look to use manufacturer’s coupons to save even more.
