Among the current supermarket circulars, Market Basket’s seems to offer a number of good bargains. Specials on the flier cover include boneless, skinless chicken breast and Italian sausage both for $1.99 a pound; its brand of cooked ham for $2.99 a pound; half-gallons of its brand of milk for $1.39; and fresh asparagus for $1.99 a pound. Other good deals are broccoli crowns for $1.29 a pound, romaine lettuce heads for 89 cents, 2-pound bags of yellow onions for 99 cents, and quarts of Colombo yogurt for $1.69.

Shaw’s has Florida Natural half-gallons of orange or grapefruit juice for $2.50, chicken leg quarters in 3-pound or bigger packages for 79 cents a pound, and Fresh Express salad kits on the buy one, get one free basis.

Hannaford has chicken drumsticks or thighs in 4- to 5-pound packages for 89 cents a pound and red seedless grapes for 89 cents a pound.

Stop & Shop is selling imported peaches, nectarines and plums for 99 cents a pound and boneless farm-raised salmon fillets for $5.99 a pound. (Market Basket also is selling salmon fillets for that price, but its ad doesn’t say boneless.) Stop & Shop will also give you a $10 Checkout Coupon if you spend $20 on various Procter & Gamble products.

At area drug stores, Walgreens has a coupon in its circular for four cans of Progresso soup, including Traditional chicken noodle, for $5 (limit four) and 12-roll packages of Cottonelle or Scott bathroom tissue for $6.99 (limit two). Also, Ocean Spray half-gallons are $2.50 (limit four), 18-ounce jars of Jif peanut butter are $2 (limit four) and with the circular coupon, Campbell’s Soup at Hand or Classic Bowls are $1.50 (limit four). Inside the flier are ads for Gillette Fusion or Venus Spa razors for $2.99 after Register Rewards of $6.

CVS has ExtraBucks savings on a dozen or so products to mark Heart Health Month; the specials are listed on a half-page mid-circular. Also, there are savings of up to $57 in CVS’ free 2009 heart beat book.

Look to use manufacturer’s coupons to save even more.
