If you’re sick, look for the free antibiotics

Filed under Savvy Shopper by sherman smith at 1:23 am

Among this week’s fliers we’ve got some good bargains, especially in the way of medicine from Stop & Shop pharmacies. The supermarket chain’s circular is offering free antibiotics (up to a 14-day supply) on prescribed generics through March 21 at its pharmacies.

Stop & Shop also has Breyer’s ice cream in 48-ounce containers (smaller by 25 percent from the old half-gallons) at $1.99, limit three. Weight Watchers Smart Ones frozen meals are six for $10 (must buy six). Juicy Juice 100 percent fruit juice half-gallons are $2.50. Porterhouse or T-Bone steaks in 3-pound or larger packages are $4.99 a pound.

Market Basket has Freihofer’s Country Breads in 24-ounce loaves for 99 cents. That’s the same price as the market brand of rye breads in 1-pound loaves. Healthy Choice Meals and Steamer Bowls in 10-ounce packages are $2. The supermarket’s brand of cooked ham is $2.99 a pound. Green beans are 99 cents a pound, and a 10-ounce bag of spinach is $1.29.

Shaw’s has its sirloin tip steak for $2.99 a pound, limit two packages. Quaker breakfast items are five for $10, and you can save $3 off five using the flier coupon. Other savings may result from using the Printacoupon function at Shaws.com.

Hannaford has 1-pound packages of strawberries for $2 and split chicken breast in 4- to 6-pound packages for 89 cents a pound.

CVS has some good deals on page 2 and 3 of its circular, including Soyjoy six-packs free after $6 in ExtraBucks and Kotex bonus packs $2.99 after $2 in ExtraBucks. The snack sneak in me is pushing the Cheez-It twin pack for $3 after $3 in ExtraBucks. Sorry, I couldn’t help myself.

Walgreens has a good price on Scott or Cottonelle bathroom tissue at two for $5 using the circular coupon.

Look to use manufacturer’s coupons to save even more.
