Batteries, soups and ice cream among specials

Another grand opening week of specials at the Shaw’s supermarkets in Nashua, at Royal Ridge and Market Place, means some good values.
Among them are a large container, up to 39 ounces, of Folgers ground coffee for $4.99 (limit one), Turkey Hill ice cream in 48- to 56-ounce containers for $1.99 (limit two) and four-packs of Ace of Diamonds solid white albacore dolphin-safe tuna at three for $10 (limit three). Shaw’s also has broccoli crowns for 99 cents a pound and boneless chicken breast in 3-pound or more family packs for $1.79 a pound.
Stop & Shop has some good bargains, too, especially some that end in 77 cents. Look for varieties of Post cereals, including 19-ounce Honey Bunches of Oats and 25-ounce Raisin Bran for $1.77, Progresso vegetable soups for 77 cents (limit 12) and use manufacturer’s coupons, Hood New England Creamery ice cream in 48- to 56-ounce containers for $1.77. Also, New York strip steaks or roasts are $3.99 pounds (limit four packages).
Market Basket has some decent specials, too. There are haddock fillets, previously frozen, at $4.99 a pound, Progresso meat soups four for $5 (and use manufacturer’s coupons), value packs of pears (Bosc, Anjou or Bartlett) 79 cents a pound, Ragu pasta sauce in 26-ounce jars for $1.67, varieties of Market Basket frozen vegetables, including corn, peas and broccoli, in 2-pound bags for $1.67, and 18-packs of beer in 12-ounce cans from Budweiser, Coors, Rolling Rock, Miller and Molson for $9.99.
You’ll get a charge from some of CVS’ specials. The drug store chain is giving back $10 in ExtraBucks on $20 purchases of Energizer batteries, including rechargeable four-packs, and $5 back in ExtraBucks after you spend $15 on any Duracell batteries. Duracell rechargeables are also $3 off, and you should look to use $1.50 off manufacturer’s coupons.
Walgreen has a store coupon-rich flier this week. Spend just 39 cents on 24-packs of plastic forks, spoons and assorted. Mead envelopes in 40- to 100-packs are 59 cents with store coupon. Walgreen has its .12-ounce Fresh Breath drops or its toothbrush for 39 cents with store coupon. Angel Soft bathroom tissue is $2.99 for the 12-roll package (limit two). Also, 12-ounce bags of Nestle morsels are $1.99 and there are manufacturer’s coupons to use.
