Time for some good late summer deals

This week’s Market Basket circular has good bargains on foods and beverages from cover to cover.
We see special prices on Perdue Oven Stuffer roaster chickens (79 cents a pound), six-packs of Thomas English muffins (99 cents), half-gallons of Dole 100% Juice Blends ($2) and 12-packs of Bass Ale ($9.99) that are probably close to what the items cost six or eight years ago. Other good deals include half-gallons of Langer’s 100% cranberry juice ($2.50), Lysol All-Purpose cleaner in two sizes ($2.50, plus look for the manufacturer’s coupons), 5-pound bags of new crop red potatoes ($2.99), 3-pound bags of new crop Paula Red apples ($2.49), broccoli crowns (99 cents a pound) and what looks to be a season-low price on “Live n’ Kicking” lobsters ($4.99 a pound).
CVS pharmacy has some special prices for ExtraCare loyalty card customers on several items, including a couple that end Monday. If you move quickly, you can get $3 in ExtraBucks back on Revlon Nail Enamel, making the price just 99 cents, and get $1 in ExtraBucks back on Aussie or Herbal Essences shampoos (in 10- to 13.5-ounce sizes) making the price just $1.49. There are manufacturer’s coupons to use on these specials, too. Act restoring or anticavity rinse will cost $2.49 after $2 in ExtraBucks, and there are coupons. There’s $5 back in ExtraBucks on a $6.99 container of Right Guard Professional Strength deodorant and there are coupons to use on them as well.
Stop & Shop is selling 32-ounce containers of Tresemme shampoo and conditioner for $2.50 and 24-packs of Angel Soft bath tissue or eight-packs of Sparkle paper towels for $5.50. There should be manufacturer’s coupons to use.
Finally, the new Walgreens in south Nashua, at 217 Daniel Webster Highway, is marking its grand opening with a coupon on the cover of its flier for $3 off a minimum $10 purchase through Sept. 20. You’ll celebrate well if you combine that with some of the other flier coupon deals such as 32-ounce jars of Welch’s grape jelly or 18-ounce containers of Jif peanut butter for $1.99 (and use coupons), or 20-count bottles of Excedrin (free after $3.99 mail-in rebate, and use coupons) and 14-ounce containers of Ajax cleanser for 39 cents.
