Some deals are better than none

Shoppers, we’re coming out of another holiday weekend so patience is required with the fewer deals and lone insert of manufacturer’s coupons. But there are some deals that shouldn’t be missed.

Pharmacies at Kmart and Target both are offering 90-day supplies of more than 300 generic drugs for $10, and Target also has a 30-day supply for $4.

Pep Boys Auto Stores is still offering $2 off all Purolator air filters, along with a $5 in-stock guarantee. Smart motorists change this key filter annually to boost their vehicles’ miles per gallon, even if unleaded regular weren’t topping $4. In most cases, changing the air filter is so simple that even cavepeople could do it. Fram oil filters are also on sale this week at two for $7, limit four.

Friends of Michael Jordan and Cuba Gooding Jr. will be pleased, no doubt,  to find that Hanes boxers and briefs in bonus packs are on sale at Kmart at various prices depending on style.

CVS is rewarding buyers of family-size containers of shampoo, including Pantene, Herbal Essence and Head & Shoulders, with $2 in ExtraBucks for ExtraCare cardholders. There may be unexpired manufacturer’s coupons you can also use.

Finally, Market Basket is selling 11- to 13-ounce cans of Chock Full O Nuts coffee for $1.99, and look for manufacturer’s coupon for $1 off two packages that were recently distributed. Dole Juice Blends, with 100 percent fruit juice, are priced at two half-gallons for $4, and diligent clippers can use a $1 off two manufacturer’s coupon good through June 30.

The Savvy Shopper also appears in The Telegraph on the first and third Wednesday of each month. Sherman Smith, Telegraph copy editor, can be reached at 594-6420 or ssmith@nashuatelegraph.com.
