Move quickly for holiday savings
Filed under Savvy Shopper by sherman smith at 2:38 pm
Sometimes we need to react quickly in order to take advantage of good deals. Holiday weekends are times when retailers know many of us will be heading to the beach, lake or mountain, so they’ll try to coax those of us who are staying around to come, shop, spend money and possibly save some, too.
If you see this blog entry and scoot to Shaw’s before it’s too late, you can save on Coke (five 12-packs for $10), various sizes of Red Baron pizza (three for $9) and the repeat offer of “buy one bag of Lay’s chips, get two free” with the weekly circular coupon. There are other special “Four Days Only” offers as well as the regular weekly sales items.
Three other retailers with stores in Greater Nashua that are running holiday weekend sales are Circuit City and Kohl’s, through Memorial Day, and L.L. Bean, through May 27. Check the ads in Friday’s or weekend newspapers, the fliers that arrived with the Sunday papers or visit the Web sites for specific deals. Note that Bean is discounting men’s, women’s and kids’ sandals 30 percent off its sale prices and Kohl’s is giving “$10 in Kohl’s cash” to everyone who spends $50.
In addition, the Sports Authority ad in Sunday’s paper had a two-day coupon that will save you $10 if you spend $50. I stopped in Saturday night and saved with a similar two-day coupon for use Friday and Saturday. On that visit, I discovered that the items on the clearance racks, which could be purchased and applied toward the $50 coupon savings, were marked down an additional 50 percent.
These deals won’t last, but there’s time to save if you move quickly.
The Savvy Shopper also appears in The Telegraph on the first and third Wednesday of each month. Sherman Smith, Telegraph copy editor, can be reached at 594-6420 or ssmith@nashuatelegraph.com.
