The NH Grizzlies baseball club is collecting donations for the Gerossie family of Litchfield, who lost their home to fire early this morning.

I was an extremely proud parent after watching a junior varsity baseball game last week at Manchester Memorial high school. It wasn’t the efforts of the players on the field, but what happened before the game started.

From time to time we’re called up to volunteer, in some capacity or another, by the club. Last weekend one of the moms from my son’s team was on field marshal duty (the task involves retrieving balls that make their way over the super high fence and into the woods, reporting scores, keeping the crowd under control - a topic for a future blog- and wearing a beautiful vest that is the mark of authority!!!). A ball took flight over the fence and landed in the pond next to the field… there was no stick long enough to retrieve the ball, so our brave and dedicated volunteer had no choice but to tough it out and make her way across the thin ice. Well… I think its obvious what happened.

Happy news in our household! My daughter is thrilled to have been chosen for the NH U13 Girls ODP team.

The slam-dunk is a dream of every young basketball player. So the next time your toddler dunks his diaper in your garbage can, it may be a sign of his athletic future.

It’s a decision that many athletes would love to have. As a member on Manchester Memorial’s freshman basketball team, my son, Brandon was asked by the JV coach to play on that team as well. Tough choice ha?

What better way to keep athletes’ grades up, than to offer them tutoring in an after-school study hall. That’s the new program some Memorial High School football players will take part in throughout their school year.

Can you imagine playing on a team called the Webbies, White Mules or Banana Slugs? Maybe you are more of a Geoduck or a Stumpie!
