Here’s a few pictures from the Pinkerton Academy vs. Manchester Memorial football game last Saturday in Derry. Not the greatest field conditions in the rain, and the game didn’t go the Crusaders way. But, with several underclassmen in the starting lineups, they are a team building and hopefully improving as the season goes on.
I wasn’t there when team manager, A.J. Jackson injured his ankle walking up a set of stairs in flip flops. But, I can say it wasn’t his fault for not moving fast enough when my son, Brandon ripped a foul ball down the third base line, hitting A.J.’s ankle in the same spot. Double-Ouch!
I was an extremely proud parent after watching a junior varsity baseball game last week at Manchester Memorial high school. It wasn’t the efforts of the players on the field, but what happened before the game started.
One of the school budget-trimming proposals out there will eliminate the current junior high athletics as they are today, and replace them with intramural-style sports. After reading a letter sent out to parents of Nashua junior high students (provided to me by a friend), I wondered who is behind this shift - or shaft as many [...]
All good rules are not meant to be broken, but what about if there’s a flaw in the wording?
We all get sick at one time or another. I’ve been lucky not to, two years in a row so far. Must be the flu shot! But, the rest of my family hasn’t been so lucky.
A couple [...]
Is the thrill of victory in your blood? Not in mine. I got my ____ kicked this weekend by both my wife and son. I couldn’t hit a bucket if it was right in front of me!
It’s a decision that many athletes would love to have. As a member on Manchester Memorial’s freshman basketball team, my son, Brandon was asked by the JV coach to play on that team as well. Tough choice ha?
I arrived a few minutes late to yesterday’s freshmen football game at Memorial High School in Manchester. As I approached the field, I heard the crowd cheer, and the upper classmen were jumping up and down while watching the Crusaders 9th-graders sack the Alvirne Broncos in the endzone very early in the game. I may have missed [...]
After a night of thunder and rain storms, the NH Grizzlies’ game against the Redhawks of St. Louis is delayed until 5 p.m. Both are top teams in the tournament, so this should be a very good game. Both teams will have their #34’s back for the game. The Redhawks #34, and our #34 (my [...]
Was it that embarassing trip on the athletic field, or the mismatching socks you wore on the court that gave you your first nickname? Maybe it was that “athletic” crew cut, or your hunter orange hair that labeled you from birth.
It’s funny how a nickname sticks with you all your life, at least with the friends who [...]
