From time to time we’re called up to volunteer, in some capacity or another, by the club. Last weekend one of the moms from my son’s team was on field marshal duty (the task involves retrieving balls that make their way over the super high fence and into the woods, reporting scores, keeping the crowd under control - a topic for a future blog- and wearing a beautiful vest that is the mark of authority!!!). A ball took flight over the fence and landed in the pond next to the field… there was no stick long enough to retrieve the ball, so our brave and dedicated volunteer had no choice but to tough it out and make her way across the thin ice. Well… I think its obvious what happened.
One of the school budget-trimming proposals out there will eliminate the current junior high athletics as they are today, and replace them with intramural-style sports. After reading a letter sent out to parents of Nashua junior high students (provided to me by a friend), I wondered who is behind this shift - or shaft as many [...]
Are you looking for a winter baseball camp for your child in southern New Hampshire? My son, Brandon attended the camp below, before the start of his last year in Little League. You hear a thud in the middle of the night, then another, and another. Should panic set in? After all, your toddler has just made the move from his crib, to a new bed. As you swing open your son’s bedroom door, a smile appears on your face. Your “baby” is tossing a baseball off the bedroom [...]
Now that your son or daughter is finishing up their last year of Cal Ripken or Little League, are you planning for the next stage of their youth baseball career? You should be!
It’s only mid-summer and baseball is wrapping up. In just a month our kids will be back in school. High school football practices [...]
Today was the final day of baseball for us in the AAYBA World Series at St. Louis. The NH Grizzlies placed 8th out of more than 30 teams from around the country. They lost both Friday’s game, and today’s. The game today went into three extra innings.
Brandon Hammerstrom of Auburn, pitched the first three innings, [...]
The NH Grizzlies 14U team from Litchfield dropped their baseball game today 9-1 against the Blues from Kansas City. Tim Sullivan pitched for the Grizzlies, and was relieved by Robbie McCormick.
When we left the field, I heard one of their parents bragging that this was their third year in a row making it to the [...]
