Special Olympics trophies lost in Wakefield (NH) house fire

Firefighting is a tough job, and so is parenting a pair a teenage boys who are mentally challenged. How about caring for their grandmother as well. That’s what Fire Capt. Dean Nason, a 32-year volunteerĀ of the Wakefield (NH) Fire Department, deals with every day. And to top it off, he had to respond to a house fire last week to see his own home burn, according to an article in the Manchester (NH) Union Leader.
The family lost everything in the fire that gutted their home, including the Special Olympics trophies his boys had won, and their downhill skis.
A local trophy maker is trying to replace some of the trophies, but the family did not have insurance on the home, and they are still trying to figure out where to go from here.
The article didn’t provide any contact information for people to help out the family. But, I did find a link here to the Wakefield Fire Department. The web page has a phone number on the top that can be called. Please DON’T use 911 to contact them.
