Snack ideas for games on the road

At the big league baseball games, you may hear the words “popcorn, peanuts, Cracker Jacks,” or “beer here.” But, what do you bring on the road to AAU games when there are no vendors around?
*Peanuts in the shell (I prefer the unsalted ones). They’re a little messy at the fields, but they compose over time.
*Bottled water (lots of it). Skip the sodas. They don’t hydrate you during a long, hot day.
*Licorice sticks (I like the cherry or strawberry), or Snickers bars. Yummy, but addicting. *Bananas, oranges, apples, or watermelons. Great for players in between games.
*Trail mix.(My favorites are the ones with M&M’s, peanuts, almonds, and dried fruit. Good source of protein and energy.
*Peanut Butter sandwich. Lots of protein for players. My son prefers no jelly.
*Cold cuts sandwiches. Our whole family likes them. Good for lunch between double-headers.
*Thermos of hot chocolate. Good for the tummy on a cold spring or fall day.
*Cut and peeled carrots are a healthy snack, as well as other veggies.
All of the above are good for you (with the exception of the licorice), if eaten in moderation. Bring a cooler, packed with cubed ice. The ice will come in handy if one of the players picks up a boo-boo.
If you are traveling with other parents from a team, you may want to each bring a couple snacks, rather than all of you bringing a little of everything. We’ve brought watermelons to games in the past, and cut them up for the kids afterwards.
