B.U. hockey team wins Frozen Four, teaches athletes to play hard until the end

If you missed the game on television, or turned it off for the final minutes, thinking Boston University would succumb to Miami of Ohio, you missed a hockey game of a lifetime. You can check it out on ESPN.com.

In the final minute of their game, the Terriers scored two goals, tieing the game 3-3, and sending the game into overtime. A slap shot mid way through the extra period would clinch their fifth Frozen Four victory since 1995.

But there’s a lesson to be learned here. “Don’t give up. Play hard until the last out, whistle, horn, buzzer, or whatever ends the game.” The Terriers never quit playing. In fact, they played harder during the overtime, than most of the game.

Teach your players and children to play ’til the end. Never give up. They’ll have nothing to be ashamed of after the game, if they put out 110% all the way through.
