Champion Athlete’s Little Instruction Book

A couple years ago I stumbled aithcross a list, created by Jon Unger, of over 400 one-liners that include inspirations, reminders, and reality checks for athlete’s both young and old. These phrases bring wisdom regardless of the chosen sport. Some may apply more than others, some may be spot-on reinforcement to what you’ve been trying to impress on your child, some to be disregarded. Buried in there are some ‘it’s so true’ moments along with a few good chuckles. From time to time I’ll share these gems so we can all use them to reinforce good athlete/parental etiquette which will hopefully be transposed both on and off the field, court, track, etc. …Enjoy!
#1 Nod to your coach when you understand what he/she is saying, whether you agree with him/her or not.
#2 Always be the first to congratulate a teammate when he/she makes a successful play.
#3 Never criticize a teammate.
#4 Always help a teammate up who has fallen to the ground.
#5 Get in the best condition you possibly can so that you can perform at your highest level with your greatest confidence.
