Snooze, you lose - Red Sox heading to Tampa Bay

Filed under Baseball, Fall sports, Fans, General, MLB by bob hammerstrom at 11:01 am

Many of us fair-weather fans are lining up to make confessions this morning. We gave up on the Red Sox after watching the Rays’ homeruns sail out of Fenway. I went to bed at the end of the 6th inning.

But, surprise, surprise. My wife called me on her way to work this morning. She was frantic. I hadn’t bothered to listen to the news yet. “They won,” she said. “Ya sure, ya betcha,” I replied, in my sarcastic Norwegian voice. It took a minute or so for her to convince me. I thought she was joking around.

By gosh, they did win with a homerun blast by Ortiz, and a winning hit by J.D. Drew in the 9th.

I snoozed, and I missed it. The Red Sox will now head to Tampa Bay for game six Saturday night. I won’t be going to bed early during that one! Actually, I need to figure out how to run my television cable outside by the bonfire pit. We have a big group of NH Grizzlies baseball players and their families coming over for a party.
