Never too early to think of next year

We’re just a week removed from the end of the college basketball season, and Bracketology expert Joe Lunardi already has a bracket for 2010.

The potential No. 1 seeds are as follows: Duke, Michigan State, Kansas and Syracuse. That last one would change, I imagine, if Jonny Flynn decides not to stay in school.

At No. 2, its Purdue and three Big East schools - West Virginia, Louisville and Villanova. There are eight total teams from the Big East in Lunardi’s bracket while the ACC and Big 12 have seven.

What’s also interesting are the regional sites for next year. The West is in Salt Lake City, the Midwest in St. Louis, the South in Houston and the East in Syracuse. That last one makes me wonder if reaching the Sweet 16 would be a reward or a punishment for any team that’s in the East.
