More coaching news for Monday night
Filed under college basketball by JoeM at 12:48 am
Two more college basketball coaches were hired on Monday at Memphis and Boston University.
The Tigers turned the program that John Calipari built to one of his assistants, Josh Pastner. One person thinks its a good hire for Memphis. And it seems that Pastner didn’t think he’d be staying in town long when he joined Calipari’s staff before this season.
Also, BU scooped up Villanova assistant Pat Chambers to become its next head coach. The school has denied comment until a press conference on Wednesday. Interesting fact - Chambers is the fourth assistant under Villanova’s Jay Wright to become a head coach.
And one more thought on Sean Miller’s move to Arizona. In this day of coaches weseling their ways out of contracts and stepping out on players and recruits, what Miller did on Monday took a lot of guts.

Sean Miller wipes away tears at a news conference where he announced he is leaving Xavier to become men's basketball coach at Arizona.
Miller told Xavier athletic director Mike Bobinski he was leaving for Arizona, he told his players, and he could have left it at that. Instead, Miller had a final press conference at Xavier, where he said his good-byes. Most coaches would have just taken off for their new job. Kudos to Miller for looking everyone he was leaving in the eye and telling them so.
