“Save Steve’s family” St. Petersburg photographer Coddington in need

I saw this today on the National Press Photographers site.  Seems this St. Petersburg Times photographer and his family are in need. Please read and share as you see fit.

    UPDATE: Because of each one of you, we have raised nearly $20,000.00 for Marian Coddington's desperately needed therapy. We are deeply grateful for all of the support you have already given Steve and Marian.

    Our greatest hurdle has been reaching as many people as we can to help raise the money Steve needs to get Marian the intensive therapies she requires to recover as completely as possible. Marian CAN recover. She is not a vegetable. She is there, trapped in a body she cannot control. But she is in there.

    Today, a short video was released by Brave New Films that features Steve and Marian's story. We appeal to you, once again, to help us. Please, go to the blog ( http://savestevesfamily.blogspot.com), watch the video and pass it along to anyone you think might be willing to help. We are already so thankful for the hundreds of people who have gotten us this far. We just haven't gone far enough yet. But we will. And you can count on it.

    PLEASE, tell your Facebook friends about Steve, twitter it out to all your tweeps, share it with your coworkers, but keep telling his story.

    Thanks for your interest in Steve and Marian's overwhelming struggle. The blogsite brought a phenominal response from more than 400 strangers; Steve's colleagues at the St. Pete Times put on several successful fundraisers that attracted hundreds more. The result?     Here's the latest entry:
    It's happened! After the Tampa physiatrist recommended that Marian receive speech, occupational and physical therapy as an outpatient, Cigna approved the plan! The company said she was covered for 27 days of therapy. Steve will probably schedule her sessions twice a week.
    At this point, according to the phyiatrist, Marian isn't able to undertake intensive inpatient therapy; remember, she has deteriorated since leaving Chicago. But, the hope is, regular rigorous outpatient therapy will improve her stamina and qualify her once again for intensive inpatient care. Then we'll see what Cigna does.
    In the meantime, pat yourselves on the back. Through your kindness and generosity, you have sustained this family through the horrendous and seemingly impossible circumstances they faced.

    When we started this blog, Steve was on unpaid leave from his job, caring for Marian 24/7; she was getting no therapy. The bills were piling up.
    Now, Steve can pay a health worker to care for Marian several days a week, so he is able to work parttime. The family has a handicapped accessible van and an electric wheelchair so Steve can take Marian to therapy and the family can go on outings. Marian is getting therapy and has a chance for some kind of decent life.
    Thank you so very much. We are humbled by such an outpouring of goodness and concern.
    We'll keep you posted on Marian's progress.
