Breaking the speed limit?
Filed under General, Photojournalism, humor by bob hammerstrom at 2:15 pm
I had the longest commute of my life this morning - 24 miles in an hour and 40 minutes. As I was driving (I mean sitting in traffic) on the F.E. Everett Turnpike in Bedford this morning, I noticed this portable alert billboard on the side of the road. Wishful thinking. Should have taken the sleigh to work!

This sign along the F.E. Everett Turnpike, warning motorists to slow down to 40 m.p.h. seemed a little odd, since traffice from exit 11, all the way up to Manchester, was sitting still.
I was lucky to reach 4 miles-per-hour this morning. That sign could have said 80, and it wouldn’t have mattered. I saw accidents, and cars spun out in snowbanks all the way from exit one on Rt. 101, to the Merrimack exits on the Turnpike. Cars were blazing by my four-wheel-drive all the way to Nashua.
One nice newer-looking four-wheeler was sitting backwards up a snowbank in front of the tolls. His shiny new truck took a good beating, and the front tire was flat. Nice job! SLOW DOWN!
