My first mountain bike race did not start auspiciously.
 
I left the house about 15 minutes later than I’d intended, but that was no big deal. I’d still get there a good 40 minutes before the start, I figured.
 
About 20 minutes up the highway, I realized I hadn’t brought my inhaler.

In some small ways, I’m glad I can no longer run in the Grand Tree series. (I won’t say compete; I was more of a mid-pack guy).
I miss trail running something awful, but this year’s GT schedule looks brutal; they’ve added another near-marathon length race on one of the tougher trails around… the (third annual) MorFun Wapack [...]

Though I won’t be running it myself (see post below), I can recommend the Stone Cat 50 and marathon to anyone who’s up for it.

Just a reminder, folks… the lottery for the Mount Washington Road Race runs from March 1 through the 15.
I have no idea what the odds are, nor what it would be like to run uphill for that distance… it would be interesting to find out…
