As reported in the Lowell Sun, and previously on these pages, there’s a new rail trail a comin’ round the bend, the Bruce Freeman trail. The first 6.8 mile section officially opens on Saturday.  The trail will run south through Chelmsford and beyond. The north end is near the Lowell/Chelmsford border (and the junction of 495 and Route 3), while the southern end (of phase one) is at Route 225 in Westford, Mass.
