Gang of Idiots… bicycling, not baseball

I had time for just a quick one today, and rode my bicycle for an hour, dipping into Dunstable. One hour on the public roads brought two passing motorists yelling comments.
The first came on Route 113, from a fellow who said something about “idiot.” For the record, I agree. I’m an idiot. Then again, I’m not the one yelling out the window of an SUV. I reckon that makes him an idiot, too.
Me, I was just riding along as far to the right as I could manage, doing my best to flirt with the posted 25 mph speed limit (alas, my speed was entirely legal).
The second came on Ridge Road, where a young man hollered something about “sidewalk.” I tried to catch them, but couldn’t keep up. My retort: “bike lane.” It’s illegal to ride on the sidewalk, so that makes him an idiot too.
I have long fantasized about packing a pistol while bicycling. I may yet do it. Cars are deadly weapons, the way some people drive around here, and I’m thinking I ought be better prepared to defend myself.
