Hazeltine, trails so fine

Of all the local mountain bike trails, I think Hazeltine is my favorite (although I admit, more often than not, my favorite is whichever trail I am riding at the moment). The area off Austin Road in Amherst has terrific variety, from double-track to single track to where-did-the-trail-go track, loads of fun natural obstacles, and a very few enhanced features. The nearby Bicentennial Trail goes all the way to Joe English, though I have yet to make it that far. The parts I frequent include a challenging climb, a terrific sphincter-clenching section along a cliff, heart-racing descents and a vernal pool in which I saw hundreds of wood frog and spotted salamander egg masses earlier this season. Returning today, I found a couple egg masses had yet to hatch, and the pond was teeming with tadpoles:
