“Who Lives in Walker Brook?
NRWA Guided Outing for Families”
Walker Brook in Mason, New Hampshire, is a tributary to the Squannacook River, a significant cold water fishery in Massachusetts, which eventually flows into the Nashua River in Groton. Who lives in Walker Brook? What can they tell us about the quality of the water there? Families are invited to join Nashua River Watershed Association’s Eco-Adventure Coordinator, Lauren Parente, for a free program on the banks of Walker Brook on Sunday, June 7, from 1:00 to 2:30 PM. We’ll hike a ¼-mile to the brook where we’ll take an up-close, hands-on look at some of the fascinating life there. Learn what a river’s creatures can tell us about its water quality. The meeting place for this program is at the intersection of Rt. 124 and Walker Brook Road in Townsend, just over the state line. A fun outing for all ages!
This hike is part of a series of free programs, open to the public, which the Nashua River Watershed Association is offering in celebration of its 40th Anniversary. Over the course of the year, NRWA will be presenting a free public program in each of our 32 communities; visit www.NashuaRiverWatershed.org for additional information.
Registration is requested for this free program. The path is not suitable for strollers, and, we ask that you please refrain from bringing dogs. To register or for more information, please contact Lauren Parente, NRWA Eco-Adventure Coordinator, at (978) 448-0299, or email LaurenP@NashuaRiverWatershed.org. The NRWA is a non-profit environmental organization that depends on memberships for support.
