Bobcats attack, and anti-hunters do same

Posted by andrew wolfe

I had a fun story (if I do say so myself) on a guy who was jumped by a bobcat while turking hunting way out west in Mass. I was honestly surprised that it brought out all sorts of snide, anti-hunting comments. What’s up with that? This is NH, right?
I don’t hunt myself, but I should. [...]

Words of wisdom for trail riding

Today I learned: You can skip the stanky bug spray so long as you keep riding fast, but it will hurt worse when you crash.

Hazeltine, trails so fine

Posted by andrew wolfe

Of all the local mountain bike trails, I think Hazeltine is my favorite (although I admit, more often than not, my favorite is whichever trail I am riding at the moment). The area off Austin Road in Amherst has terrific variety, from double-track to single track to where-did-the-trail-go track, loads of fun natural obstacles, and [...]

4 wheel (expletive)

Tight shorts save lives… or at least skin

Posted by andrew wolfe

Skin tight spandex shorts may look silly on cyclists (or sexy, depending), but they serve an important function.

In addition to the comfort of internal padding, tight shorts ensure that you won’t get snagged on your seat at a critical moment, such as heading down a steep, rocky descent, which can stop you from shifting your weight [...]

Dam cam shows evolution of Souhegan River

Posted by andrew wolfe

In case you missed it… well, you shouldn’t. Check out my colleague’s piece on the removal of a small dam on the Souhegan in Merrimack. It includes a very cool time-lapse photo montage of the site:

The upper Souhegan in Greenville is a mecca for kayakers and white water canoeists this time of year. How about [...]
