Bobcats en Masse

Filed under wildlife by andrew wolfe at 9:23 am

Alas, no, just Bobcats in Mass. A mob of bobcats would be such a sight, though, it pleases me to think of it. If you have any interest in these beautiful and elusive cats, here’s your chance to learn more from an expert:

“Bobcats in Massachusetts”

Many of us have heard reports of recent sightings of bobcats in our area.  Would you like to learn more about one of the more secretive predators in the state?  The Nashua River Watershed Association (NRWA) invites the public to join us for a free presentation on “Bobcats in Massachusetts”, Wednesday, March 25, at 7:00 PM, at NRWA River Resource Center, 592 Main St. (Rt. 119), in Groton, MA.  Our speaker will be Laura Hajduk, MassWildlife Furbearer Biologist.

Laura will cover the basics of bobcat biology and ecology, including life history, habitat use, and prey.  She will bring bobcat pelts to view and touch.  Laura will also discuss the history of bobcats in MA.  She’ll share some of the reports that MassWildlife receives about bobcats, and she’ll provide answers to common bobcat questions.

Laura joined MassWildlife as a furbearer biologist this past year.  She received her BS from Northern Illinois University, and her Masters from Southern Illinois University, where she studied long-tailed weasel space use and habitat selection.

This presentation is free and open to the public.  For more information, call Al Futterman, NRWA Land Programs and Outreach Director, at (978) 448-0299 or email AlF@NashuaRiverWatershed.org.  The NRWA is an environmental organization that depends on memberships for support.
