These are a bit far afield, but thought I’d pass them along all the same…

FEBRUARY 2009 WINTER HIKES IN THE SUNAPEE-RAGGED-KEARSARGE GREENWAY REGION

The Sunapee-Ragged-Kearsarge (SRK) Greenway Coalition¢s six February hikes are shown below, along with a final winter hike in early March.  All hikes are free to the public, with varieties of distances and difficulties. For SRKGC information go to www.srkg.com. Please call the hike leader at least the night before to learn starting location and time. Be prepared for winter conditions with clothing layers, food, and water. Snowshoes are the presumed mode of transport.

FEBRUARY 2009:
Feb 7 (Sat) The Fells in Newbury: Snowshoe lakeside woodlands with beautiful views of Lake Sunapee. Lisa and Dick Correa, 518-281-1494. 2 miles. (E)

Feb 8, 9 or 10 Full Moon snowshoe in New London near Pleasant Lake.  Dave Cook, 526-4570. 3 miles. (M)

Feb 14 (Sat) In North Sutton: Snowshoe  old roads, ski trails, and King Hill off trail. Art Robbins, 927-4377. 4.5 miles. (M)

Feb 21 (Sat)  In New London and Springfield: A cross-country ski trip from Twin Lake Villa to Morgan Pond. Andy Hager, 526-2846. 6 miles. (M)

Feb 22 (Sun) In Springfield: Snowshoe from NH Route 114 to Kidder Brook bridge, then downhill to Twin Lake Villa. Wayne Nicoll, 735-5721. 6 miles. (M)
 
Feb 28 (Sat) Wilmot and New London: From Granite Hill Road in Wilmot to Pleasant Lake in New London. Brent Scudder, 763-0187. 2 to 3.5 miles. (E-M)

MARCH 2009:
Mar 7 (Sat) In Mount Sunapee and Pillsbury State Parks, along Sunapee Ridge to Lake Solitude, Lucia¢s Lookout, and return. Gerry Gold, 526-2857. 12 miles. (D)

Greenway guidebooks are available at local book stores.  The SRK Greenway Coalition, incorporated in 1993, is a ten-town all-volunteer non-profit organization with members throughout the SRK region and beyond.
