In addition to the family-oriented program this weekend, the Nashua River Watershed Association is offering a free, more in depth tracking workshop Feb. 7.
“NRWA Basic Animal Tracking Workshop”
Animal tracking is a popular tool for understanding wildlife. We can open a window into their world by examining both obvious and subtle clues that animals have left behind. The Nashua River Watershed Association (NRWA) invites the public to join us for a free “Basic Animal Tracking Skills Workshop” on Saturday, February 7th, 1:30 to 3:00 PM, at the Oxbow National Wildlife Refuge in Devens, MA. Join NRWA’s River Classroom Director Stacey Chilcoat for this skill building program. Learn how gate patterns, habitat, scat, foot print shape, size and other details assist the tracker with proper identification. This workshop is appropriate for ages 11 to adult. Snowshoes are encouraged but not required.
This “Basic Animal Tracking Skills Workshop” is part of a series of free programs, open to the public, which the Nashua River Watershed Association is offering in celebration of its 40th Anniversary. Over the course of the year, NRWA will be presenting a free public program in each of our 32 communities; visit www.NashuaRiverWatershed.org for additional information.
Registration is required for this free public program. To register, or for more information, please contact Stacey Chilcoat, NRWA River Classroom Director, at (978) 448-0299, or email StaceyC@NashuaRiverWatershed.org. The NRWA is a non-profit environmental organization that depends on memberships for support.
