I don’t usually do this sort of post, but I thought I’d share my fleeting fascination with a sport that’s completely unfamiliar to me: stand up paddle surfing.

I stumbled onto Web sites devoted to the sport while checking out a longboarding (skateboarding, that is) site, which had an article and ad for a product being sold as a ‘paddle’ for use with skateboards… the idea being that you could paddle instead of push.

I need another sport and more toys like I need a pet pachyderm (it’d be cool, but I really don’t have the room, not to mention the expense), so I’m not bloody likely to take up surfing, tho I’ve always thought it looked awfully fun, unless someday I find myself nearer by god to sea.

I do have a couple longboards and a broken canoe paddle in my garage, tho… and it never would have occured to me to use them together.
