So does drinking water
Filed under Uncategorized by andrew wolfe at 3:53 pm
I like to carry water when I run. It’s a thirsty business, and I figure the extra weight is a good training aid. I feel a lot faster when I run without it.
I went shopping for a new hydration pack last month, after my old Blackburn sprung a leak. A new bladder was going to cost me near as much, so I decided to upgrade the pack as well. I noticed that Camelbak and a few others now make winter models, with insulated tubes. I’ve read that one even comes with a battery-powered heater! Of course, a frozen bite valve or tube is no good at all. There’s no point in carrying a couple pounds of ice. I have a cheaper solution, though: I wear my pack under my jacket. Body heat keeps the water liquid. I’ve tried adding salt to my drinking water, too, but that doesn’t work well… if you use enough to keep it from freezing, it tastes terrible.
