Yet more options

I'd be remiss not to mention another race coming up this weekend, the Jack London Trail Race.

A kinder, gentler trail marathon

Andrew | 29 October, 2007 11:13 | (223)

Though I won't be running it myself (see post below), I can recommend the Stone Cat 50 and marathon to anyone who's up for it.

Rich Busa

Andrew | 27 October, 2007 10:26 | (258)

In case anyone missed it, the profile of trail runner extraordinaire Rich Busa ran today (Saturday). Here 'tis: http://www.nashuatelegraph.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20071027/NEWS01/310270090/-1/news

UPDATE:

Two minor corrections: We can all wish Rich a happy 78th birthday Oct. 30, but he was still 77 when the article was published on Oct. 27. Also, he is no longer the oldest guy to finish the VT100. Aaron Goldman, 73, of New Mexico, finished in 2005 with a time of 29:20. Busa had finished in 2002, at 72, in 28:37, according to the race website. My bad.

Busa Bushwack

Andrew | 19 October, 2007 12:37 | (196)

Another cool race coming up soon is the Busa Bushwack Nov. 4 at Callahan State Forest in Framingham, Mass. What's so cool about it?

One of the finest trail races of the year is coming right on up this Sunday, and it's just a short hop over the state line.

It's a Pissah!

Andrew | 09 September, 2007 20:34 | (332)

The drought ended this weekend, and I ended a dry spell of my own, running my first race – the Pisgah Mountain 23K – since May, when I hobbled through Soapstone.

Racing into Fall

Andrew | 27 August, 2007 15:34 | (254)

Most runners I know don’t care much for the heat. Humidity and temperatures in the 90s can slow a body down no matter how much water one guzzles, and the hot weather often coincides with Bad Air Days, when we are cautioned not to inhale outdoors. There are races throughout the summer, but the schedule seems to get even fuller in the fall.

Running Beaver Brook

Andrew | 25 July, 2007 11:55 | (303)

Beaver Brook is my favorite place to go run in south-central New Hampshire, and I've long thought it would be a great place for a trail race.

(This is an old post, I'm bumping it up because it's coming right on up Sunday...)

Greylock Half-marathon RR by MR

Andrew | 18 June, 2007 07:51 | (299)

I had no idea, when I moved into my place at Gibbet Hill in Groton, that every summer weekend I would be surrounded by so many women wearing Easter egg taffeta.

For the record, Evan finished ahead of me. Official results show otherwise, but we were there. We know.

Soapstone Mountain Trail Race

Andrew | 20 May, 2007 17:44 | (370)

When you really love something, it’s all good even when it’s bad. I feel that way about a few things, and fortunately running is one of them. Otherwise, I’d be sorely disappointed with my race today.

The Wapack Trail race results are up on the race website, cleverly disguised in a link labled "racers 2007."

A good clean race

Andrew | 16 May, 2007 08:56 | (136)

I've got a busy weekend coming up. After the Needham Open Saturday, and working a night shift Sunday, I plan to run Soapstone on Sunday.
