Newer and nearer trail race series

The club that organizes the Grand Tree series doesn't call itself Western Massachusetts Athletic Club for nothing. Now, some folks have rounded up a bunch of races around the eastern end of central New England: the Eastern New England Trail Races Series.

They've put together a calendar of 20 races, a few of which are shared with the GT series, and they plan to score the races in the same way (percentage of winning time, and accumulated total points).

The North Medford (Mass.) Running Club is hosting the series on its Website. The races tend to be just a tad shorter than the GT series, which some runners will appreciate, and it's also a great way to learn of new places to explore. As they note on their Website,  "The average trail runner is unique among the running community in that the environment that they run in is as important as the activity itself."

Share and enjoy.
