Rich BusaAndrew | 27 October, 2007 10:26 | (262)
In case anyone missed it, the profile of trail runner extraordinaire Rich Busa ran today (Saturday). Here 'tis: http://www.nashuatelegraph.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20071027/NEWS01/310270090/-1/news UPDATE: Two minor corrections: We can all wish Rich a happy 78th birthday Oct. 30, but he was still 77 when the article was published on Oct. 27. Also, he is no longer the oldest guy to finish the VT100. Aaron Goldman, 73, of New Mexico, finished in 2005 with a time of 29:20. Busa had finished in 2002, at 72, in 28:37, according to the race website. My bad.
I just read your article and am blown away by what a fantastic job you did at capturing "the essence of Rich". He is a good friend of mine and got me into running some fun runs like the Muddy Moose in NH and Breakneck in CT. At the Moose I lost my sneaker 3 times and at Breakneck I waded through thigh high water. Who knew trail running could be such fun. Rich is responsible for my newfound interest in tough running extravaganzas! He's changing lives all the time. Thanks for covering with due justice a legend in our time. I know Rich as a fellow member of the Greater Framingham Running Club. He is a role model in many ways - he inspires with his quiet dedication to the sport he loves and through the hard work it takes to endure to the end. He does this with a cheerful acceptance of whatever gets thrown in his way in the meantime. And he does it all with a smile and the kind of engaging modesty that only true heroes display.
Rich, you crack me up! Mt. Washington takes nothing out of you?! You are a hoot and a remarkable person. I'm honored to know you. Posted by: Arnie Pollinger | October 28, 2007, 10:07Add commentAbout Mesearcharchives
