Offroad riding in Nashua

Filed under Uncategorized by andrew wolfe at 1:52 pm

I've never understood why a serious mountain biker would want to dodge dogs, strollers and runners in Mine Falls Park when there are so many alternatives.

Take southwestern Nashua, for instance. There are a bunch of fun trails in the area of Yudicky Farm off Main Dunstable Road, as well as some areas along the Dunstable, Mass., line off Middle Dunstable Road. Last night, I explored an area south of Main Dunstable Road, where I often saw cars parked, and found a bunch more trails just over the line in Dunstable. There's a lovely, spring-fed pond with some of the largest and most social beavers I've ever seen, and more trails than I had time to digest before dark. One of them took me out to River Road, spitting distance from the Nashua River Rail Trail.

If anyone knows the name of that pond, I'd like to hear it. It doesn't show on any map that I can find, even the old USGS quadrangle maps. It must be nearly smack on the state line, west of Salmon Brook and east of River Road and the rail trail. Some poor fellow drowned in it last summer.
